About Pod & Paddock
Pod & Paddock is a small family-owned and operated farm located in Bamboo, just north of Port Douglas and on the doorstep of the Daintree Rainforest in Far North Queensland. Set amongst the lush landscapes of the Wet Tropics, our farm is part of a region shaped by rich volcanic soils, tropical rainfall, winding creeks, and generations of agricultural history.
Once surrounded by expansive cane paddocks that defined much of the local landscape, this area has long been connected to farming and life on the land. Today, Pod & Paddock continues that connection in a new way, blending traditional growing knowledge with thoughtful small-scale tropical farming focused on diversity, quality, and sustainability.
what we Grow.
We grow a curated range of tropical crops suited to the unique climate of the region, including grafted cocoa and blue turmeric, alongside a rotating selection of seasonal produce.
Our cocoa is grown with a focus on flavour, resilience, and quality genetics, while our blue turmeric reflects our interest in unique tropical crops with strong culinary, cultural, and botanical value. Every planting is approached with care, observation, and an understanding that no two seasons in the tropics are ever the same.
As the farm continues to evolve, we are constantly exploring new varieties and opportunities that suit the Wet Tropics environment while remaining connected to sustainable and thoughtful growing practices.
Our Process
Our philosophy is simple: thoughtful farming where cultivation meets creativity.
Life on the farm moves closely with the rhythm of the Wet Tropics. The wet season brings dramatic tropical rain, fast growth, rich green landscapes, and the energy of summer storms. The dry season offers cooler mornings, lower humidity, and a slower pace for nurturing, harvesting, maintaining, and preparing for the next cycle of growth.
Rather than forcing production, we work alongside these natural patterns, allowing the land, weather, and seasons to guide much of what we do. Every season brings something new, teaching us to adapt, observe, and grow alongside the environment around us.
Much of the work on the farm is done by hand, from planting and maintaining crops through to harvesting and small-batch handling. This slower, hands-on approach allows us to stay connected to the details, refine our methods over time, and continue learning directly from the land itself.
Led by the land and cared for by hand, Pod & Paddock embraces farming as both a practical process and a creative one.
About us
Pod & Paddock is proudly family-owned and operated. Built from a genuine love of the land, tropical agriculture, and the lifestyle of Far North Queensland, the farm reflects our passion for creating something meaningful.
We value curiosity, creativity, sustainability, and the simple beauty of seasonal living. Beyond growing produce, we are passionate about sharing an appreciation for tropical farming, local landscapes, and the process behind what we grow.
As a small farm, we continue to evolve with every season, experimenting, learning, refining, and embracing the diversity that comes with life in the Wet Tropics.
